Heal with Shivani

Shivani — yoga and wellness teacher at The Unalome Studio

Shivani is a dedicated, trauma-informed yoga instructor known for profoundly transforming her students' relationship with movement, their bodies, and their minds. Praised for a coaching style that is both challenging and deeply healing, she meets students exactly where they are—bringing the same ease, comfort, and support to their hardest days as their best. She creates a secure, accessible, and surprisingly fun environment, expertly guiding practitioners to safely level up their practice while fostering deep reconnection and well-being.

Shivani's coaching is built on a foundation of extensive formal education and a deep, ongoing study of yogic sciences. She holds an E-RYT 500 certification, having completed advanced teacher trainings that span dynamic Vinyasa flow, restorative Yin Yoga, and functional anatomy. To anchor her trauma-informed methodology, she has also pursued specialized coursework in nervous system regulation and somatic movement. This rigorous academic and practical background equips her with a nuanced understanding of biomechanics, allowing her to offer precise, intelligent modifications that keep her students safe, supported, and injury-free.

Beyond her formal credentials, Shivani considers herself a lifelong student of the practice. She actively engages in continuing education—from mindfulness meditation retreats to workshops on accessible yoga—ensuring her methods remain inclusive and grounded in the latest wellness research. She firmly believes that yoga is not about achieving the perfect physical shape, but about building a sustainable, compassionate relationship with your own body. By bridging high-level technical expertise with genuine, grounded empathy, she empowers her students to take the resilience they build on the mat out into their everyday lives.

The space

The Unalome Studio

The unalome — a single line that spirals, bends, and eventually straightens — is a Buddhist symbol for the path toward awareness. It sits on every mat in the studio for a reason: practice is rarely linear, and that’s exactly the point.

The studio is a small, light-filled room in Kilpauk, with space for six on the mat. White walls, wooden floors, the kind of room where you can hear your own breath. No mirrors, no music unless Shivani brings something specific to the practice that day.

Group classes happen here through the week. 1-on-1 sessions are typically held in a student’s home, or online — whichever fits the practice better.
